Though the premises of Smith's stories are strange, the world he depicts looks a lot like bourgeois American life circa 2022: banal yet vaguely menacing. If that doesn't interest you, the stories are extremely short, funny, and a lot of them are about pizza. And dogs. And death. I don't remember if there's one with all three.
