This Saturday, at McNally Jackson Seaport, we're "Using Our Words . . . for Poetry Month." How do we create, write, stitch, build, or bake a poem? We start with a feeling, a thought, an image--anything that inspires us. We translate these thoughts and feelings into words that express what we mean; we arrange words into phrases that flow from one line to the next, shaping a rhythm that amplifies and echoes our intent. For a unique format, we're giving kids long scrolls of paper to write on, plus collage letters and strips of text to supplement their own words. Our featured book is How to Write a Poem by Kwame Alexander, illustrated by Melissa Sweet. Hosted by Yvonne Brooks. All ages welcome. No rsvp required. We look forward to seeing you!
