Join us to celebrate 10 years of NYRB Poets!
Inspired by the adventurous spirit of The NYRB Classics series, NYRB Poets features the work of poets from around the world, classical and modern, ancient and contemporary, in elegant, pocket-size editions. We’re celebrating their 10th anniversary by highlighting the many works of poetry in translation published by NYRB Poets. We will be joined by some of the translators who have made the series possible.

Chloe Garcia Roberts is a poet and translator from the Spanish and Chinese. She is the author of a book of poetry, The Reveal, and the translator of Derangements of my Contemporaries by Li Shangyin which was awarded a PEN/Heim translation grant. Her essays, poems, and translations have appeared in the publications BOMB, Boston Review, A Public Space, Kenyon Review, and Yale Review among others. She lives outside Boston and works as deputy editor of Harvard Review and a freelance translator of contemporary children's literature. She translated a collection of poems by the late Tang poet Li Shangyin for the NYRB Poets series.
Eugene Ostashevsky is a poet and translator who was born in Leningrad, USSR, grew up in New York, and currently lives in New York and Berlin. His poetry collections The Feeling Sonnets and The Pirate Who Does Not Know the Value of Pi, published by NYRB Poets, examine multilingualism, emotions, and identity. The German edition of Pirate won the 2019 International Poetry Prize from the City of Muenster. He was the main translator of An Invitation for Me to Think by Alexander Vvedensky for the NYRB Poets series, the winner of a National Translation Award. He also translated The Fire Horse: Children’s Poems by Vladimir Mayakovsky, Osip Mandelstam, and Daniil Kharms for NYRB Children. His other translation titles include Lucky Breaks by Yevgenia Belorusets, a collection of stories about Ukrainian women refugees.
Mark Polizzotti has translated more than fifty books from the French, including works by Gustave Flaubert, Patrick Modiano, Marguerite Duras, André Breton, and Raymond Roussel. His translations have been shortlisted for the National Book Award and the International Booker Award, among others, and he is the author of eleven books, including Revolution of the Mind: The Life of André Breton, Highway 61 Revisited, and Sympathy for the Traitor: A Translation Manifesto. His essays and reviews have appeared in The New York Times, The New Republic, The Wall Street Journal, ARTnews, The Nation, Parnassus, Bookforum, and elsewhere. He lives in New York. He translated The Drunken Boat: Selected Writings of Arthur Rimbaud for the NYRB Poets series.
